PARENTS GUIDELINES

It is not our intention to exclude parents from attending training sessions. However, we strongly request your assistance in the observation of the following guidelines:

• Team leadership is the coach’s job, in any sport. No coaching of players by parents is permitted. Coaching must be left for the coaches.

• Do not give feedback to your child regarding performance unless you have previously consulted with the coach because this can lead to contradictory information causing confusion and frustration to your child.

• If you are disappointed with your child’s performance, keep it to yourself. Instead help the child to deal with it positively.

• Make sure your child attends all training sessions and is on time. Do not punish your child by not sending him to training sessions. This will have a more negative effect as attending training sessions is not a reward for good behavior but an experience to develop socially and physically.

• Do not yell out personal, highly emotional negative comments during training sessions. Give plenty of praise even when your boy plays really scrap. Be supportive; do not criticize them every time they make a mistake.

• Never try to influence the coach’s decisions even if it means your own child does not get as much of a chance to play. Your enthusiasm for the team should never be dependent on your satisfaction with the coach’s decisions.

• If you are still frustrated, set up an individual meeting with the coach and try to share and discuss your opinions and feelings in an objective and understanding atmosphere.

• Always stop to think about how you are acting in practice or at a match and improve your behavior if necessary.
